DJI Terra Versions & Release Notes

Find official DJI Terra release notes and earlier versions, understand what to check before updating, and keep historical documentation in its correct context. Use this guide to plan a software change around your workstation, data and deliverables.

Where to find DJI Terra versions and release notes

Choose the resource for the task. The installer, the release notes and the version archive serve different purposes.

Install or update Terra

Use our Download page for the current linked packages, manuals and installation resources. Check DJI’s official download center for any later release before starting a new deployment.

Check what changed

Read DJI’s release notes before deciding whether a change affects your work. Review new functions, fixes, limitations and any instructions that apply to your input data or equipment.

Find an earlier release

Use DJI’s version archive when you need a specific historical installer. Confirm the version number and its documented requirements before using it for a project or a controlled test.

A version number is not a license edition. Standard and Flagship identify feature entitlements; the installed Terra version identifies the software release. Annual or permanent duration and online or offline authorization are separate choices. Use our DJI Terra License Guide when reviewing those purchasing decisions.

DJI Terra earlier versions: how to choose an older release

An earlier installer is useful when you have a defined reason to reproduce or investigate a workflow. Choose it around the evidence you need rather than assuming that an older release will solve a problem.

Reproduce a documented project

Start with the version recorded for the original processing. Retain the acquisition files, control data, coordinate references, settings and accepted outputs. These records help you distinguish a software change from a change in the project inputs.

If the original environment is no longer available, record the differences before comparing results.

Investigate a processing issue

Record the exact symptom, reconstruction stage and version first. Read the applicable release notes and known issues, then decide whether a small comparison test would answer a specific question.

Keep the original project intact. Do not treat installer availability as a guarantee of compatibility with every project, sensor or entitlement.

DJI’s archive is the starting point for historical files. Our local DJI Terra Earlier Version PDF is an older snapshot: its first entry is V4.4.6, dated February 21, 2025. It is useful as a historical reference, while the official archive is the better place to check subsequent listings.

How to read DJI Terra release notes

Read the entries between your installed version and the release you are considering. A list of new features alone does not explain every practical effect of a software change.

New capabilities

Look for a function that answers an actual requirement. Identify the relevant input data, required sensor and receiving application, then check whether the function is available under your entitlement.

Changes and fixes

Match each relevant item to your own workflow. A correction for a particular reconstruction stage or payload may matter more to your production than an unrelated new feature.

Notes and requirements

Check prerequisites, known limitations and instructions. Review linked hardware, firmware or deployment guidance when DJI specifies it for the task you intend to perform.

A practical decision note can be short: record the current release, proposed release, reason for changing, test dataset and acceptance checks. Share it with the people who acquire, process and review your data.

For the receiving software, confirm the output format and whether the generated deliverables open and display as expected. For survey work, agree checks around the project specification; a release number is not an accuracy guarantee.

Before updating DJI Terra: a practical checklist

Prepare the change before running the installer, particularly when the workstation supports an active delivery deadline.

  1. Record the existing environment. Note the Terra version, Windows configuration, graphics driver, relevant sensor firmware and authorization mode.
  2. Preserve project records. Keep original source data and a separate copy of the project, processing settings, reports and accepted exports.
  3. Read the release information. Identify changes relevant to your workflow and any documented prerequisites or limitations.
  4. Check the workstation. Review current hardware guidance and available storage for the installer, test data and generated results.
  5. Prepare license access. Have the intended DJI account and activation records available. Ask for deployment guidance if the computer uses an offline entitlement.
  6. Choose a representative test. Use a small dataset that includes the inputs, processing stages and output types that matter to your work.
  7. Review the result before production. Check reconstruction completion, quality information, coordinate references and downstream use of the exports.

Our System Requirements & Workstations Guide helps with computer planning. Use the Installation & Activation Guide for setup and authorization, and the Supported Drones & Sensors Guide when checking source-data compatibility.

Keep software updates separate from hardware transfers. Installing another release is not a general authorization to move the entitlement to a different workstation. Check device-binding and hardware-change conditions before altering the deployment.

Testing an older release or planning a rollback

Do not assume that a project saved or processed in one release can be reopened or continued unchanged in another. Ask DJI or our team about the exact version pair and project type when that compatibility matters.

Before attempting an older-release test, preserve the working project and outputs. Use a separate test copy or a fresh reconstruction from retained source data. Consult DJI’s installation instructions for the supported change procedure; avoid making an irreversible project conversion merely to investigate a symptom.

If a result differs, document the software versions, dataset, settings and observed change. A useful comparison distinguishes completion errors, appearance differences and measurement checks rather than reducing the assessment to processing time alone.

For assistance, send the exact error text, the stage at which it occurs, your Terra version, sensor and workstation configuration. Explain whether the same input worked before the change. Share only the diagnostic material needed for the investigation.

Historical DJI Terra PDFs: useful references with dates

Older PDFs can explain an earlier installation or the context of a historical project. Read their version and publication date before applying the instructions to a current release.

Earlier Version PDF

This locally hosted archive begins with V4.4.6 from February 2025 and lists earlier installers. Keep it for historical navigation; consult DJI’s online archive for later listings.

Release Notes PDF

This locally hosted document also begins with V4.4.6. Its notes describe those releases and their historical conditions. Use current DJI release notes when evaluating a newer installation.

Check licensing policy separately. DJI’s current FAQ states that Terra V5.0.0 and later do not require upgrade or maintenance fees. Historical documents may describe earlier policies. Read the official licensing and update FAQ and our License Guide when reviewing an older entitlement.

FAQ: DJI Terra versions, updates and release notes

Where can I download DJI Terra earlier versions?

Start with DJI’s official version archive. Confirm the selected release and its requirements before installing it. Our historical PDF can help identify older entries, but it does not establish which later packages DJI currently provides.

Does an older version automatically fix reconstruction problems?

No. Record the symptom and review the relevant release notes or known issues. Use a controlled test to answer a specific question, keeping the original project and outputs intact.

Where are the current DJI Terra release notes?

Use the official release-notes link near the top of this page. Our Download page also links to that documentation alongside installers and setup resources.

Does updating the software change Standard into Flagship?

A software version and a license edition are different. Review the selected entitlement and confirm an applicable edition-upgrade route if you need a capability outside it.

Can I open a newer project in an earlier Terra release?

Do not assume backward compatibility. Check the exact releases and project type with support before relying on an older version. Preserve the original project and retain source data for a separate test.

Do I need to pay the old annual maintenance fee for Terra 5.x?

DJI’s current FAQ states that upgrade or maintenance fees are not required for V5.0.0 and later. Confirm your exact entitlement and keep edition upgrades separate from software-version updates.

What should I check after updating?

Confirm the required reconstruction stages, review relevant quality information and open the exported deliverables in the receiving application. Use the independent checks agreed for the project.

What information helps when requesting support?

Include the installed release, proposed or previous release, exact error or symptom, processing stage, sensor, workstation configuration and intended outputs. Explain what changed and whether the same data worked before.
