DJI Terra Pricing: Annual vs Permanent License Costs

Software buying guide · Drone Emotions

DJI Terra pricing depends on the edition, license term and authorization mode. In our catalog, Standard online costs $ 1,790 for one year or $ 5,080 for a permanent license. Flagship online costs $ 3,640 for one year or $ 10,450 permanent, excluding tax.

This guide compares those purchase options, explains the longer-term cost and helps you decide whether annual or permanent licensing fits your workload.

How much does DJI Terra cost?

The following prices refer to the online licenses sold by Drone Emotions. Compare the same edition and authorization mode when evaluating annual and permanent options. A lower price for a different product is not a like-for-like comparison.

Choose the edition before comparing the term

Start with the deliverables you need, such as maps, conventional 3D meshes or a particular visualization workflow. Then check the edition that includes the required tools. Buying a longer term does not add another edition’s capabilities.

DJI Terra annual vs permanent: what changes?

A 1-year license: lower initial spending

A one-year product gives you a fixed period of access to its licensed functions. It can fit a defined contract, a first year of drone mapping services or a business that wants to evaluate its ongoing workload before committing more capital.

Allow for test processing, production and client revisions when planning that period. If you still need paid functions after expiry, arrange a valid continuation entitlement. Check the next purchase or renewal price rather than assuming an unchanged rate or automatic renewal.

A permanent license: a larger purchase for ongoing use

A permanent, or perpetual, product provides ongoing use of the purchased entitlement under its terms. It can fit regular processing over several years, where a larger initial software purchase is justified by a continuing workload.

Permanent duration does not remove account, computer or authorization conditions. A permanent Standard license also remains a Standard license unless an eligible edition upgrade is applied.

When does the annual period start?

DJI states that online validity starts at activation; offline validity starts when the license certificate is redeemed. Check the exact product supplied and retain the activation and expiry details. DJI’s published support pages are not fully aligned on the listed Standard and Flagship terms, so confirm the named SKU and validity in your order or quotation.

Is a permanent DJI Terra license cheaper over three years?

At the catalog prices above, a permanent online license costs less than three consecutive one-year purchases for either edition. Two annual purchases still cost less upfront than the permanent option.

The comparison below assumes continuous use, the same edition and online authorization, and an unchanged annual purchase price. It excludes tax, financing, exchange-rate effects and any additional products or services.

Illustrative cumulative license spending · USD, excluding tax
Use period Standard annual Standard permanent Flagship annual Flagship permanent
1 year $1,790 $5,080 $3,640 $10,450
2 years $3,580 $5,080 $7,280 $10,450
3 years $5,370 $5,080 $10,920 $10,450
5 years $8,950 $5,080 $18,200 $10,450

Example: a survey business using Standard

Three annual purchases at US$1,790 total US$5,370. Standard Permanent costs US$5,080, a difference of US$290. Across five annual purchases, the difference grows to US$3,870 under the same assumptions.

Example: a team requiring Flagship

Three annual purchases at US$3,640 total US$10,920. Flagship Permanent costs US$10,450, a difference of US$470. Across five annual purchases, the difference is US$7,750.

Use the comparison as a planning tool. A one-year contract may justify the lower initial cost even if permanent licensing is less expensive over a longer period. If work is intermittent, count the annual terms you actually expect to purchase. Recalculate whenever prices or requirements change.

DJI Terra online vs offline pricing

Permanent and offline describe different things. Permanent describes duration; offline describes authorization. Choose the deployment for the processing workstation before comparing prices.

Our catalog also lists these offline products:

For an isolated computer, include the initial license exchange and planned hardware changes in your purchasing discussion. Review our Installation & Activation Guide before preparing the final workstation.

What else affects the total DJI Terra cost?

Updates, maintenance and edition upgrades

DJI’s current FAQ states that upgrade and maintenance fees are not required for Terra V5.0.0 and later. This update policy does not extend an expired annual entitlement or automatically change your edition. Confirm a Standard-to-Flagship upgrade separately rather than assuming the original purchase will be credited in full.

Check the policy in the official DJI Terra FAQ and confirm the intended release and entitlement when migrating an older installation.

The processing computer and storage

Budget for the computer that will run your projects, working storage and backups. A software price alone cannot tell you how efficiently a large dataset will be processed. Use our System Requirements & Workstations Guide to plan the configuration, and the Supported Drones & Sensors Guide to check source-data requirements.

Whether your LiDAR workflow needs a paid entitlement

Check this before purchasing solely for LiDAR. DJI documents free Zenmuse L2 point-cloud processing and related functions under its stated version conditions. Identify the sensor, installed release and requested outputs, then confirm whether your particular task needs paid tools.

See DJI’s sensor-specific LiDAR licensing guidance. Processing a point cloud and producing a photo-based reconstruction are different tasks.

DJI Modify and other receiving applications

A Terra-only product should not be treated as a Modify purchase. If you need reconstruction followed by editing, compare a separately identified bundle or request both applications in the quotation. Our DJI Terra vs DJI Modify guide explains the roles of the two tools.

Include any GIS, CAD or BIM applications needed for the final handover when preparing the wider project budget.

Tax, currency, training and assistance

The prices in this article exclude tax and are expressed in USD. Review the final checkout total and any currency-conversion charges from your payment provider. Ask for a quotation if your organization needs a specified invoice, procurement reference or deployment service.

Also allow for the time needed to learn the workflow and validate results. Describe any training or assistance you require so its scope and cost can be confirmed.

Which DJI Terra purchase fits your business?

A defined project or first year of operation

Compare a one-year license if you need a lower initial purchase and have a clear processing period. Include possible revisions and repeat flights in the schedule. Review Standard 1 Year or Flagship 1 Year after confirming the edition.

Regular mapping work over several years

Compare permanent licensing if repeated projects justify the initial spending. Use expected years of use, available cash and the number of processing workstations in your decision. Review Standard Permanent or Flagship Permanent.

An isolated workstation or several processing computers

Request a deployment-specific quotation. Describe internet access, hardware plans and the number of computers that must be authorized. A single product listing should not be interpreted as unlimited installations or simultaneous use.

A practical checklist before ordering

  1. Confirm the required tools. List the inputs and outputs, then select the appropriate edition.
  2. Choose the authorization mode. Identify whether the processing computer can remain connected.
  3. Estimate the actual usage period. Compare expected annual purchases with the permanent option.
  4. Check the full quotation. Confirm devices, included applications, tax, assistance and activation conditions.
  5. Prepare the installation. Use our DJI Terra Download page and activation guide, then retain the purchase and license records.

DJI Terra pricing: frequently asked questions

What is the lowest online price shown here?

Standard 1 Year is US$1,790 excluding tax in the catalog snapshot dated 7 October 2026. Check whether Standard includes the tools you need before choosing it by price.

Is permanent cheaper than annual?

At the stated prices, permanent costs less than three consecutive annual purchases for both editions. Annual costs less initially. Your usage period, future prices and budget determine which option fits better.

Does a permanent license work offline?

Permanent duration does not mean offline authorization. Select the expressly named offline product if the processing environment requires it.

Does Flagship Permanent include DJI Modify?

The standalone Terra Flagship product should not be treated as a Modify license. Verify the included applications on an expressly identified bundle or quotation.

Can I buy annual first and convert to permanent later?

Ask for the available route, eligibility and price before purchasing on that assumption. Do not treat annual payments as automatic credit toward a permanent license.

Are prices the same in every country?

This article shows our USD catalog prices. Regional offers, tax treatment, authorization mode and package contents can affect comparisons. Compare the same product and final payable amount.

Can you quote several licenses or an offline deployment?

Yes. Send Drone Emotions the edition or required outputs, quantity, sensor, workstation arrangement, authorization requirements and billing details. Include any existing license if you are asking about an upgrade.
